Neurofeedback is a treatment method that has been around for over 30 years. It uses several sensors placed on the head to transmit your brain’s brainwave activity into a computer, which then enables the brain through feedback to better regulate itself. The feedback to the brain comes in the form of playing computer games or watching movies that vary in brightness depending on the brain’s response.
Neurofeedback is non-invasive. Nothing is being done to the brain, rather the brain is being guided into better regulation and stability. Extensive research has shown improvement in executive functioning, attention, focus, reduction of anxiety, and calming of agitation and over-arousal. It is being used increasingly to treat trauma and PTSD. Please call the office for more information or to schedule a consultation.
